Why you buy the parts: our labor-only policy

All work is low-voltage (under 50 V DC). No line-voltage electrical work is performed.
Perimeter Surveillance Upgrades: Coming Soon (awaiting Virginia DCJS licensure)

Every GateWire job has the same split: Heron Networks LLC charges one flat $400 fee for labor, and you buy every piece of hardware yourself, directly from a retailer. This guide explains how that works, what it gets you, and where it stops.

The policy

Our fee is $400, flat, as a single line item. It covers installation labor and nothing else. We never sell, supply, resell or mark up hardware, and we never bundle parts into the fee. The fee doesn't move when part prices do.

You buy the power bridge, the PoE adapter, the cable, the batteries and the automation interface from the retailers we link. We never take ownership of your hardware to resell it.

What buying direct gets you

You see and pay the retailer's own price, with nothing added by us. You're the retailer's customer, so returns and warranty claims go through the seller or manufacturer under their terms. The receipt is yours, and our fee stays the same no matter which retailer you pick.

There's also nothing to argue about later. The labor fee and the hardware cost are separate from the start, and you can see both.

How the Procurement Hub works

The Procurement Hub is a list of links and nothing more. Each one goes straight to the retailer's own product page, never through a link shortener. Each part shows the date we last checked the link and, when we noted one, the price we saw that day. We don't pull prices automatically, so treat the price on the retailer's page as the current one.

Where a link goes to Amazon, the page carries Amazon's required statement: as an Amazon Associate we earn from qualifying purchases. That's the only way we can earn anything from your parts, and it doesn't change what you pay.

The order of steps, and why the receipt comes before the calendar

First comes technical vetting, then the refundable deposit, then you buy the parts and upload your purchase receipt. Once an admin has verified the receipt, scheduling opens: you tell us which days and parts of the day you are free, and we confirm one of them or suggest another. Until then, scheduling stays locked.

The point is to avoid a wasted trip to a job with parts missing. If a receipt can't be verified, we tell you why and you can upload another.

The deposit and refunds

The $400 is collected through Stripe as a refundable deposit once your job passes vetting. It's a real charge, not a card hold. We refund it in full if we cancel your job or if you cancel before your scheduled install date. Refunds for parts are between you and the retailer.

How it compares, and what this page isn't

Cost aggregators put a full automatic gate installation at roughly $2,500–$5,000, and that figure includes the hardware. Ours is labor only, so the numbers aren't directly comparable. The difference is that you can see exactly what each part costs.

This page describes our business policy. It isn't legal advice, and it doesn't say how any law or licensing rule applies to your project. For those questions, please ask your own attorney.

How a job goes

  1. Run the Perimeter Upgrade Calculator and add two line-of-sight photos.
  2. Your job is vetted on technical scope only.
  3. If it fits, pay the $400 refundable deposit (see the deposit terms).
  4. Buy the parts through the Procurement Hub and upload your receipt.
  5. Once the receipt is verified, tell us when you are free and we confirm a time.

Frequently asked questions

Can you buy the parts for me?

No. We never buy, sell or supply hardware. You buy each part directly from the retailer through the Procurement Hub links.

Do you add a markup to the parts?

No. You pay the retailer's price. Where a link goes to Amazon we may earn an Associate commission, and that is disclosed on the page.

What if a part arrives damaged or is the wrong one?

Return or exchange it with the retailer under their terms. Booking stays locked until a receipt for the right parts has been verified.

Is the $400 refundable?

Yes. It is refunded in full if we cancel your job, or if you cancel before your scheduled install date.
